Karen Brooks

First rays yawn
Autumn mourns, rightly, of foetid, tired days
ending the eternal darkness.
The heat takes kinship
around amazing ambushes.
Thinking new wishes,
keeping careful count,
I laugh gently.
Spring sings songs
of familiar music,
day dreams dance,
first rays yawn.
