Not today

I don’t want to be a phoenix today,
to face the roaring fire.
I hold heated thoughts at bay –
I don’t want to be a phoenix today.

Danger starts. A small flame.
Glass then shatters – things expire.
I don’t want to be a phoenix today,
to face the roaring fire.
